TUSCALOOSA – Leeds High School accumulated 23 first downs and 463 yards Friday afternoon to beat Fayette County 55-7 to secure the 2015 Class 4A state football championship at Bryant-Denny Stadium.
    The Green Wave defense limited Fayette to minus-41 yards rushing as Leeds (13-2) became the third team to repeat as champions in the Super 7 Championships this week. Leeds won at Auburn last year and in 2010 and captured its first state crown in 2008 at Legion Field.
    Championship Game MVP Trey Nation rushed for 186 yards and five touchdowns on 27 carries to pace Coach Keith Etheredge’s team.  He scored on runs of 1, 4, 9, 6 and 12 yards.  Koi Freeman hauled in a 54-yard touchdown pass from Tadarryl Marshall on the first series of the game to give Leeds a 7-0 lead. The Green Wave led 27-7 by halftime.
     Fayette County (10-5), coached by Lance Tucker, scored its only TD midway through the second period when Drew Guy connected with Kondarius Wilson on a 12-yard pass in the end zone.
    Brandon Franklin and Gyderious Rogers scored the last two TDs for Leeds on runs of 10 and 3 yards, respectively, in the final quarter.
    Nation finished his senior season with 1,817 yards rushing and 35 total touchdowns – 34 rushing – in 12 games. He had 2,050 yards and 27 touchdowns in the 2014 championship season on 289 tries. He totaled 541 rush attempts, 3,867 yards and 62 touchdowns over the last two years.   Fellow senior Marshall added 91 yards rushing for Leeds on 11 carries and was 3-of-6 passing for 68 yards – all completions going to Freeman. Brandon Franklin had 62 yards rushing on three carries. Morgan Coston also kicked six extra points.
    Guy, who finished the season with a single-season school record 3,267 yards passing and 26 touchdowns, was 15-of-30 Friday for 196 yards. Di’Marious Wilson had seven catches for 100 yards and Kondarius Wilson had four catches for 48 yards.
    Keyante Jackson had six tackles to lead the Green Wave defense. Josephus Smith added four tackles and two sacks and also had three tackles behind the line for losses. Freeman also had an interception, his sixth of the season.
