Alabama quarterback, Jalen Milroe has some expectations for his newest weapon on offense in true freshman defensive back turned wide receiver Jaylen Mbakwe.

Mbakwe was first spotted at wide receiver Friday by reporters at the Crimson Tide’s practice. This came after Mbakwe played all of his snaps on defense and special teams in the regular season.

Milroe and the Crimson Tide offense now look to incorporate the former five-star Clay-Chalkville two-way athlete on offense in the future.

The redshirt junior met with reporters after practice Saturday and gave his thoughts on Mbakwe’s addition in the Alabama offense thus far.

“It’s pretty cool,” Milroe said. “Just seeing him switch positions and just seeing him lock in into another area of his game, playing receiver. That’s a little different from back peddling to running routes against an opponent. So, it’s good to have him on our side of the ball. He’s a guy that’s always trying to learn, just being around Coach (JaMarcus) Shephard. So, that’s something that’s been good for him. It’s been good throwing him the ball and just getting him in the gameplan and just getting him around the guys. It’s been good to have him on offense.”

Alabama fans could get their first look at Mbakwe at wide receiver in the ReliaQuest Bowl against Michigan.
