MONTGOMERY – Alabama and Mississippi all-star squads went through two enthusiastic and brisk workouts Wednesday and have three practice sessions remaining for Saturday’s 28th annual Alabama-Mississippi Football All-Star Game at Cramton Bowl. Kickoff is set for noon.
Both squads appeared to be more familiar with each other in Wednesday’s workouts.
“I have been very pleased with the players’ efforts and attitudes,” Alabama head coach Jamey DuBose said. “A lot of kids are standing out this week, especially (linebacker) Keaton Anderson and (running back) Kerryon Johnson.”

Florence’s Anderson has committed to Alabama and Madison Academy’s Johnson has committed to Auburn. Both have proven versatile this week, DuBose said.
The day was culminated by former NFL quarterback Brodie Croyle’s address to the all-stars at a dinner held at Wynlakes Country Club.
Croyle, one of the AHSAA’s most prolific passers in history, set state records at the time with 9,326 career yards passing and 105 career TD passes. He missed most of his senior season after suffering a season-ending leg injury in the first quarter of the first game that season. He also set the state record for TD passes in a season (44) and for yards passing in a game (528). Both marks have since been broken. He then played at Alabama where he passed for 6,382 career yards and 41 touchdowns. Drafted in the third round of the NFL draft by Kansas City, he spent four full seasons in the pros.
The players for both teams are scheduled to practice at Huntingdon College (Alabama) and Faulkner University (Mississippi) Thursday morning, then both will work out at Millbrook Thursday afternoon from 3:30 to 5 p.m.. Both teams will then attend a Low Country Boil at Millbrook Thursday night. The final practice will be Friday morning from 9 to 11 a.m. at the college locations. Both teams will then spend Friday afternoon working with the Salvation Army in a service project and will then attend a player-parent banquet at the Cramton Bowl Multiplex Friday night.
Alabama’s All-Stars have won the last six games in a row including a 21-17 victory last year at Cramton Bowl. Alabama has won all three games played at Cramton Bowl since 2011 and is 20-7 overall in the series that dates back to 1988. The series was played at Mobile’s Ladd-Peebles Stadium from 1988-2010 with one game played at Troy University.
This will be the fourth year that Cramton Bowl has been the host site.
