Valley High School’s  Martravious “Tre” Williams rushed 18 times for 198 yards Friday night as the Rams beat Oxford 25-21.
     However, it was his fourth-quarter effort that grabbed the Alabama High School Athletic Association Prep Spotlight for Week 3 of the football season. Williams had 175 yards and all three scores in the fourth quarter as Valley battled from a 21-3 deficit to secure the victory.
    Lining up for direct snaps in Valley’s Wildcat spread alignment, he ran his way to three straight scores.
    Valley rushed 43 times for 263 yards on the night. Deangelo Dunn led the defense with nine tackles and made an interception in the Valley end zone to prevent a possible Oxford score. 
     Williams’ effort edged out a big passing performance by Spain Park quarterback Mason Duke.
    Duke anchored the Jaguars offense in A 52-28 Class 7A win over Thompson. He was 25-of-29 passing for 401 yards and four touchdowns. Spain Park also completed three other passes to finish 28-of-32 passing for 451 yards and five touchdowns.

PASSING
CONNER KISER, HALEYVILLE: The senior was 8-of-11 for 254 yards passing in a 54-36 win over Carbon Hill. He threw TD passes covering 90, 67 and 14 yards and rushed 3 yards for another score. Senior Dillon Posey had three receptions for 165 yards including touchdowns covering 90 and 67 yards. He also had 92 yards rushing—one a TD–and kicked three extra points.

SETH FRANKS, TUSCALOOSA COUNTY: Completed 15-of-29 passes for 217 yards and two touchdowns as the Wildcats beat Hewitt-Trussville 28-21.

CHAD HUNTER WYATT, HILLCREST-TUSCALOOSA: Was 31-of-39 passing for 226 yards and one TD in a 48-26 loss to Clay-Chalkville.

AARON POLLARD, MARION COUNTY: Led the Red Raiders to a 51-0 win over Brilliant, completing 9-of-17 passes for 231 yards and three touchdowns and rushing 18 times for 97 yards.

PEYTON CARTER, NEW BROCKTON: The Gamecocks quarterback accounted for 249 total yards and five touchdowns in a 60-14 win over Calhoun. Carter rushed eight times for 139 yards and three touchdowns (34, 19 and 9 yards) and was 4-of-6 passing for 110 yards and TD passes covering 37 and 26 yards.

BEN IVEY, SPRING GARDEN: Accounted for all three touchdowns in a 21-20 win over Cedar Bluff, just the third win over the Tigers in school history. His 26-yard touchdown pass to Kyle Reece with 14 seconds left in the third quarter turned out to be the game winner. He also rushed for touchdowns of 1 and 21 yards.

TREY TATE, REHOBETH: Tate was 8-of-10 passing for 181 yards and a touchdown and added three rushing touchdowns in a 38-21 win over Alabama Christian.

TANNER NELSON, COLLINSVILLE: Completed 8-of-13 passes for 120 yards and two touchdowns (50 and 64 yards). He also rushed for 102 yards on 10 carries in the Panthers’ 34-3 rout of West End-Walnut Grove.

TYLER LUSK, PIEDMONT: Completed 11-of-15 pass attempts for 200 yards and two touchdowns (47 and 48 yards) and 6-yard touchdown run in the Bulldogs’ 46-6 victory at Ashville.

PASS RECEIVING
CAHDIL ELLIS, HILLCREST-TUSCALOOSA: Hauled in 20 receptions for 111 yards and two scores in a 48-26 loss to Clay-Chalkville.

OWEN CARR, SPAIN PARK: Caught five passes for 183 yards and two touchdowns covering 55 and 68 yards as the Jags beat Thompson 52-28.

DYLAN McQUEEN, SCOTTSBORO: The sophomore receiver set a Scottsboro single-game pass receiving yards record with 177 yards on five receptions in the Wildcats’ 33-14 win over Brewer. He had three TD receptions to tie the school mark for a single game set by Malik Talley last week. Senior quarterback Justin Whitehead completed 12-of-30 passes for 219 yards and three touchdowns – the first 200-yard passing performance for Scottsboro since 1994 according the WWIC broadcaster Greg Bell.

EDDIE WILLIAMS, TUSCALOOSA COUNTY: The Wildcats beat Hewitt-Trussville 28-21 with Williams making five catches for 88 yards with two TDS covering 39 yards each. He also had two kickoffs for 146 yards with one covering 93 yards and a TD in the win.

JOSH FREEMAN, COLD SPRINGS: Caught four passes for 109 yards and a TD, and Austin Moore added 111 yards rushing and two scores on 15 carries to lift Cold Springs (3-0) past Southeastern. The 3-0 start is the best for the Eagles since 2003.

C.J. SAVAGE, PIEDMONT: Caught five passes for 85 yards, including a 48-yard touchdown, and also returned a punt 68 yards for a score in the Bulldogs’ 46-6 victory at Ashville.

RUSHING
BRANDON BAYNES, TALLASSEE: Had 364 yards rushing on 19 carries with four touchdowns (34, 70, 84 and 89 yards) and also scored a fifth TD with an 85-yard kickoff return – all in the first half – as Tallassee beat Talladega 40-6. Baynes finished with 383 yards on 24 carries to set a single-game rushing record for Tallassee. He finished with 468 tandem yards on the night.

JAMARIUS HENDERSON, DALE COUNTY: With Auburn head coach Gus Malzahn in attendance, Henderson led the Class 3A Warriors to a 38-20 win over Charles Henderson with 260 yards rushing and four touchdowns on 33 carries. He also caught one pass for 10 yards and accounted for 10 tackles from his linebacker position on defense.

COLTON KNIGHT, REHOBETH: Rushed for 254 yards and a 3-yard touchdown in the Rebels’ 38-21 win over Alabama Christian.

VALANDIN “TEZ’’ SPENCER, FAIRFIELD: Had 20 rush attempts for 237 yards and four touchdowns in the Tigers’ 35-13 win over Corner.

JOHN MICHAEL DYE, VINEMONT: The workhorse running back had 29 carries for 257 rushing yards and two touchdowns in a 45-26 homecoming victory over Danville.

TERENCE HUMPHREY, COLUMBIA: Set a school record with 35 rushing attempts enroute to 228 yards and two touchdowns in a 42-14 loss to West Point.

BRADY SHERRILL, HALEYVILLE: The sophomore had 14 rush attempts for 204 yards and two touchdowns in a 54-36 win over Carbon Hill. He had a long run of 72 yards and scored twice on runs of 42 and 36 yards.

THOMAS OZMINT, GLENCOE: Rushed 19 times for 187 yards and one touchdown and caught a key 38-yard pass in the fourth quarter to rally Glencoe from a 13-point deficit to beat Walter Wellborn 27-26.

DREEK THOMPSON, PIEDMONT: Rushed for 172 yards on just eight carries, scored two touchdowns on runs of 4 and 53 yards and also caught three passes for 36 yards in the Bulldogs’ 46-6 win at Ashville.

DEFENSE
JAMAL AND JAYLAN JACKSON, HARTSELLE: Led Hartselle to a 24-21 win over Athens with two dynamic defensive performances. Jamal had two interceptions, a partially blocked field goal and a sack and Jaylan had one pick and returned a blocked field goal 95 yards for a touchdown.

GARRETT DAFFRON, PROVIDENCE CHRISTIAN: Totaled 17 tackles the Eagles’ 28-6 win over Houston County.

THOMAS ESPY, EUFAULA: Had three interceptions, returning one for a touchdown and sealing the win with his last one in the closing minute of a 19-12 win over Sidney Lanier. In addition, he had a tackle for a safety, a 35-yard field goal to help extend the lead in the fourth quarter and was 2-for-2 on extra-point kicks to account for13 of his team’s total points. Espy also kicked a 54-yard field goal that was nullified by a penalty.

KENNON CASEY, G.W. LONG: Intercepted two passes in the Rebels’ 43-21 win over Cottonwood. He returned one pick 48 yards for a touchdown to help spark a 29-point second-half rally to overcome a 21-14 deficit at intermission. Casey also had five tackles.

SPECIAL TEAMS
PHILLIP WARD, HOKES BLUFF: Returned punts of 59 yards and 81 yards for touchdowns as the Eagles picked up their first win of the season over White Plains 35-7. He also had a 52-yard interception return to set up another TD.

JOSH SARRATT, SAND ROCK: Connected on a 25-yard field goal with 8:33 remaining in the fourth quarter to provide the winning points in the Wildcats’ 10-8 victory over Brindlee Mountain.

ANDREW McLARTY, SPRING GARDEN: Booted a 33-yard field goal with 2.2 seconds left in the first half and also posted six tackles in the Panthers’ 21-20 win at Cedar Bluff.

KOBE SMITH, WEST POINT: Returned a kickoff 93 yards for a touchdown and rushed 21 times for 108 yards and two additional TDs in a 42-14 win over Columbia.
