In the most recent episode of “The Pivot”, former Alabama head coach Nick Saban spoke about his wife’s (Miss Terry) message on his decision to retire.

According to Saban, Miss Terry said, “It’s all about relationships, but now it’s about how much money you’re going to pay them.”

Saban also mentioned how his wife hated the fact that she was unable to develop relationships with the players and have them over. In the past, the Saban’s hosted players, coaches, and recruits for a variety of different things including nice dinners and cookouts. They would also host the recruits’ parents and make them feel at home.

That is something that the Saban’s took pride in. Over the years, it became more and more difficult to build bond with recruits and their parents because of the transfer portal.

One of the reasons that Saban retired was because of the shift in the college football landscape. Evidently, his wife was not a big fan of it either. Nevertheless, he is enjoying life as a College Gameday analyst and has more time to spend with his family nowadays.
