What a wild ride it’s been for Jalen Milroe. At times, Milroe has looked like the #1 overall pick, and at times, he’s looked borderline undraftable. But when it came to draft day, the Seahawks showed their faith in his upside and made the pick in the third round. Alabama and Seattle great Shaun Alexander made the announcement.

Milroe was pressed into starting action back in 2022 when QB Bryce Young was injured, and won both of his games. He then won the starting job in 2023, only to get benched after a loss to Texas. He used the ensuing game as an opportunity to work on his leadership and wound up winning the starting job back the very next week and never looked back.

Milroe has, at times, utterly dominated opposing teams (looking at you, LSU). He’s made some of the most improbable and memorable highlight plays in his two years at Alabama (4th and 31 to beat Auburn will go do down in history), and some of his rushing plays have displayed an almost cartoonish speed that shouldn’t even be possible for a a QB.

Despite that, he had his struggles as a starter, and the 4 losses in 2024 will stick with Alabama fans moreso than NFL fans.

The ‘Hawks recently signed former Vikings quarterback Sam Darnold, who had a breakout season in 2024, to a three year deal. Previous to his one season in Minnesota, Darnold had bounced around the league with disastrous stops with the Jets, Carolina, and the 49ers. Seattle also has Sam Howell and Drew Locke on the roster – two guys who have not exactly panned out.

2024 Highlights

2023 Highlights

Milroe was the fourth quarterback selected overall in the 2025 NFL Draft, ahead of Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders and behind the Titans’ pick of Cam Ward (Miami-FL), the Giants’ Jaxson Dart (Ole Miss) and the Saints’ Tyler Shough (Louisville). Milroe is the third Crimson Tide player taken in the draft following Tyler Booker and Jihaad Campbell.
