AHSAA Football Playoff Game of the Week
AHSAA TV Network (WOTM) to Broadcast Class 7A Semifinals Featuring Auburn and Central-Phenix City

     MONTGOMERY – The AHSAA TV Network / NFHS Network Game of the Week produced by WOTM TV for the third round of the state football playoffs is the Class 7A semifinal battle between Auburn (9-3) and defending state champion Central-Phenix City (11-1) Friday night.
    The game will be available for viewers over the WOTM and ACN cable channels on many of the state’s cable markets, said executive producer Vince Earley of WOTM TV, who announced that WOTM will also feature unbeaten Bibb County (12-0) at Briarwood Christian (11-1) in the Class 5A quarterfinals over the AHSAA TV Network/NFHS Network.  The subscriber-based NFHS Network service is available all across the state. The live television coverage can be seen over the following network carriers in most markets and including major affiliates Charter, Comcast, Cable One, ATT U-verse and Anniston/Oxford area. Central’s outstanding NFHS Network School Broadcast Program will also be live-streaming the contest over the NFHS Network
    Central and Auburn met on October 25 with Coach Jamey DuBose’s Red Devils winning over the Tigers of Coach Adam Winegarden 34-7. Auburn knocked off previously undefeated McGill-Toolen 26-0 last week and Central downed Prattville 24-6.
      The two teams have played 55 times since 1930 with Central holding a 38-14-3 edge.  Both schools have storied traditions with more than 50 player from both teams chosen to play in the Alabama-Mississippi All-Star Classic since its inception in 1988.  On that first team was Central offensive lineman Ed King, who went on to have an outstanding college career at Auburn University and spent seven years in the NFL. At least 10 former Red Devils had outstanding college and NFL careers NFL including running back James Joseph (Auburn), defensive back Jeremiah Castille (Alabama), Woodrowe (Alabama), running back (Billy Jackson (Alabama) and offensive tackle Herm Lee (Florida A&M).
    The Tigers have also produced a number of outstanding collegiate and NFL stars including Demarcus Ware (Troy), Marcus Washington (Auburn) and Reuben Foster (Alabama). Both teams are talented with three players off this year’s Central team picked for the 2019 Alabama-Mississippi Classic.
     Central has won 25 of its last 26 games – marred only by a 17-14 Kickoff Classic loss to Hoover in the first game of the season. Auburn has compiled a 44-16 record over five seasons and is 107-34 overall with head-coaching stops at Fairhope and Hillcrest-Tuscaloosa.  Dubose is 65-10 in six seasons at Central and 136-39 overall with head-coaching stops at Prattville and Florence. He guided Prattville to state titles in 2008 and 2011 and has taken the Red Devils to the semifinals five straight years.
     The NFHS Network will have approximately 21 third-round playoff games live-streamed over its NFHS Network School Broadcast Platform Friday night. In addition, 211 basketball games and four wrestling events have been scheduled this week with a big slate tonight, Friday and Saturday for a total of 234 events on the NFHS Network this week.
    In addition, 24 of the 26 playoff games can be heard via audio over radio or internet broadcasts.
